Fotokite Launches DroneSense Integration Plugin, Bringing Persistent Aerial Awareness Into a Unified Public Safety Platform
Zurich, Switzerland / Boulder, CO / Austin, TX

Fotokite, the leader in actively tethered drone systems for public safety, today announced a new integration plugin that streams live Fotokite video and telemetry directly into DroneSense, the drone operations platform from Versaterm. The plugin gives agencies that already rely on DroneSense a way to fold Fotokite’s persistent, always-on aerial view into the same command environment they use for their broader drone fleet — no separate app, no separate login, and no gap in the picture.

What the Plugin Does

Once enabled, the DroneSense plugin allows a Fotokite unit to stream live thermal and color video, along with flight telemetry, straight into DroneSense’s Operations Hub. It runs through Fotokite Live across Windows, Android, and iOS, giving pilots and commanders the flexibility to activate and manage the integration from whichever device is already in their hands. Agencies simply enroll their Fotokite system in their DroneSense account, update to the latest Fotokite software, enable the plugin from the System Menu, confirm an internet connection over Wi-Fi or mobile data, and log in. From that point on, every time a Fotokite unit takes off, it automatically appears as a live asset inside DroneSense for remote users to monitor and coordinate around — with no platform lock-in on the ground.

Bringing Fotokite Into the DroneSense Ecosystem

DroneSense is built and supported by Versaterm, a Canadian public safety technology company best known for computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management, and digital evidence systems used by law enforcement, fire, and emergency communications agencies. Versaterm recently brought DroneSense fully into its own portfolio of solutions, positioning it as the company’s dedicated drone program management platform — covering everything from Drone as First Responder (DFR) missions to hardware asset tracking and compliance reporting. DroneSense already supports a wide mix of hardware, including Blue UAS-cleared and NDAA-compliant airframes and a range of DJI and Autel platforms, with Fotokite’s tethered drone listed among its supported integrations.

Use Cases the Plugin Unlocks

  • One platform for every drone and robotic asset. Instead of monitoring Fotokite separately from a fleet of traditional UAS, commanders can watch every live video feed — tethered and untethered — inside a single DroneSense Operations Hub view, alongside map overlays, hazard markers, and other mission data.
  • Seamless data sharing across departments and agencies. Because DroneSense is built for multi-agency collaboration, a Fotokite feed launched by one unit can be shared instantly with cooperating departments, mutual-aid partners, or command staff elsewhere in the jurisdiction — all through the secure sharing tools DroneSense already provides.
  • Flight tracking for reporting, accountability, and KPI measurement. Every Fotokite flight streamed through the plugin is captured within DroneSense’s system of record, alongside the rest of an agency’s drone program activity. That makes it far easier to track program-wide metrics, measure DFR performance, and build the kind of transparency reporting agencies increasingly need to share with oversight bodies and the public.
  • Harmonized telemetry and flight logging. Rather than keeping Fotokite flight data in a separate log, agencies get consistent, centralized telemetry recordings across their whole fleet — supporting standardized documentation of flight locations, timing, and duration for after-action review, audits, or legal proceedings.

Availability

The DroneSense plugin is available now as an optional add-on subscription for every existing Fotokite system — no hardware changes required, no need to wait for a new deployment. Any agency already flying Fotokite can add DroneSense connectivity to their current fleet and start streaming into a unified command view right away.
Existing Fotokite customers can get started by reaching out to sales@fotokite.com for an offer. The Fotokite sales team is also on hand to arrange a live demo or set up an evaluation trial, so agencies can see the integration in action before committing.
And for agencies not yet running DroneSense OpsHub, there’s no need to sit this one out — the same team at sales@fotokite.com can walk you through a holistic introduction to the full DroneSense offering and how it pairs with Fotokite’s persistent aerial platform.
